(BEIJING, April 17) -- Members of the IOC Coordination Commission for the Beijing Olympic Games led by Chairman Hein Verbruggen toured the sites of a number of Olympic venues and auxiliary facilities now under construction on Tuesday.
The visit brought them to the sites of the National Stadium also known as the "Bird's Nest", the Olympic Village, the National Aquatics Center or the "Water Cube", the National Indoor Stadium, the International Broadcast Center, the Main Press Center, the Fencing Hall, the Olympic Village and other facilities.
The tour followed the opening session of the commission's eighth full meeting. Praising the progress of the National Stadium, Verbruggen said he was excited to see the project grow up. At the National Aquatics Center, the visitors expressed satisfaction over the project's post-Games use.
