The Pre-Qin period refers to the duration of history from the primitive society to the Warring States period. The primitive society refers to the periods of the primitive gregarious lives to the clan communes. Entering the class society, the Chinese history wound through the Xia Dynasty, the Shang Dynasty, the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Spring-Autumn period and the Warring-States period. The Pre-Qin period weighed in Chinese history, because it stood out as a transitional period from the primitive society to the civilized society.

In that period, there appeared was the great poet Qu Yuan. The “Gan Shi Star Canon”, appearing during the warring states period, is acknowledged as the earliest star chart in the world . Within this historic phase, China moved gradually from division to unification.
