MADRID, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopian distance running star Haile Gebrselassie might return to the world championships this summer after skipping the last edition in Helsinki two years ago.

The 33-year-old said that he had not given up the dream of chasing gold at the championships in Osaka this summer.

"I haven't decided about the world championships yet. I'll decide shortly after the London Marathon. At the moment London is what I am concentrating on but you never know what could happen after that," Gebrselassie was quoted by AFP.

However, Gebrselassie hinted that he was leaning towards returning to the championships because he has a soft spot for Japan.

"Japan has always been very good to me. I ran well in December in the Fukuoka Marathon. I was very happy with what I achieved in the marathon there and also with my achievements during the rest of the year."
