(BEIJING, March 27) -- On the occasion of the 500-day countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games, the service industries in Beijing have pledged to offer their customers courteous services in an effort to better prepare for the Olympic Games.
The staff of Beijing's shopping centers, restaurants and tourist facilities, as well as public security agents, transportation and health employees, are to deepen their Olympic knowledge and improve their morality and professional and foreign language skills, which should lead to better service.
At a mobilization meeting attended by several leading officials of the Beijing municipal government and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) in Beijing on Tuesday, the organizers disclosed that a series of training programs and campaigns will be held till the end of the year, involving as many as one million workers.
Zhu Shanlu, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chief of the Beijing Olympic Training Work Coordination Group said the campaign is in line with the current endeavor to improve citizens' manners and will help the city to provide first-class logistics during the Beijing Olympics.
