(BEIJING, August 16) -- Several Chinese mass organizations have launched a commonweal campaign to bring love to the needy and attract more people to the Olympic Games.
The theme event called "Fuwa- Love Deliverer" was officially kicked off on Thursday in a press conference at Beijing Olympic Media Center.
The organizers encouraged Chinese youths to donate Fuwa to their fellow youngsters in remote and poor areas, poor urban families and the off-spring of migrant workers, in an effort to make them aware of the Olympic Games and promote the concept of building a harmonious society.
Starting in August, the campaign will unfold in the western provinces and regions of Qinghai, Ningxia and Gansu, followed by all other provinces in a year-long journey covering tens of kilometers and more than 40 cities. It is expected that about ten million people will participate in it.
According to Shen Jianguo, vice-president of All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce, China's poor and low-income rural population totals more than 70 million, in addition to 20 million low-income urban dwellers, up to 2 million migrant children who lost education, and 60 million plus people with a disability. The government encourages these people to do their best to earn their living, and urges charity donations to supplement their needs. Shen especially called on the private sector to give a hand to these people.

Officials from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad,
All-China Women's Federation and All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce attended the launching ceremony.
