870 pre-Games volunteers recruited as Games-time volunteers

(BEIJING, September 28) -- A total of 870 volunteers who served in August's Good Luck Beijing sport events have been recruited as Games-time volunteers.

According to the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Work Coordination Group meeting held Friday afternoon, 11,185 volunteers took part in 14 Good Luck Beijing sport events -- a series of pre-Olympic events -- over the last two months and won positive evaluations with their smiles, passion, quality of service and enterprising spirits.

Volunteers with excellent performance during the events will join the Games-time volunteer team for the Olympics and Paralympics.

According to the plan, the recruitment of all Games-time volunteers will end in May 2008, and the volunteer training, including general training, professional training, training at the venue and on-post training, will be pushed forward simultaneously.
