Sports Center Stadium now a temporary venue for equestrians

(BEIJING, September 4) -- After 17 months of renovations, the Olympic Sports Center Stadium has been delivered and is now ready for pre-Games competitions.

With a total area of 34,975 sq m, far exceeding the original building area of 20,000 sq m, the venue has almost doubled in capacity, seating up to 36,228 people.

The football field at the core of the venue has been turned into a high-standard temporary competition field for equestrian events and meets the Olympic requirements, as it will play host to the equestrian show jumping and running events of the Modern Pentathlon at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The 2007 Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final, one of the "Good Luck Beijing" series sport events, is slated to take place at the venue from September 15-16, 2007.
