(BEIJING, Sept. 5) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) announced on Wednesday that from September 5, 2007 to April 30, 2008, BOCOG will be taking submissions from around the world of photographic images featuring smiling children's faces for potential use in the artistic performances of the Ceremonies.

The campaign is dedicated to offering opportunities for the general public to participate in the Opening and/or Closing Ceremonies of the Games.

The exact creative use of the photos remains confidential for the time being to preserve the element of surprise and to support the best presentation of creative ideas in the Ceremonies. Nevertheless, further details regarding the actual usage of the photos may be revealed when deemed appropriate during the production process of the Ceremonies.

Those who are interested should submit photo(s) that depict a full frontal image of the face of a smiling or laughing child. The photos should never have been publicly used or displayed for commercial purposes, and the child must be under age 10. There are no requirements regarding gender or the background of the photo(s).

The entries must be at least five million pixels, in color, and be bright and sharp. Photos meeting these requirements taken by ordinary digital cameras are acceptable.

In terms of format, the photo(s) must be saved in JPG format. The filename for each Photo must be "*.JPG," where the "*" is the full name of the child. For example, the file of the photo depicting a child named Zhang Xiaoming should be named "zhangxiaoming.jpg", and if there are five photos of Zhang Xiaoming, the files should be named "zhangxiaoming1.jpg", "zhangxiaoming2.jpg", etc. All photos of each child should be submitted on a single and separate CD, with the full name of the child pictured in the Photo written on the CD in permanent ink.

While BOCOG intends to maintain the integrity of the smiling faces, BOCOG will modify, alter or adjust the photos, including, but not limited to, the background of the photos, based on the creative requirements of the Ceremonies. Also, BOCOG has wide latitude to determine the final usage or non-use of the Photos in the Ceremonies, including all broadcasting of the Ceremonies and publications related to the Ceremonies.
