Doping Control Center preparing for Olympics

The Doping Control Center of the Beijing Olympic Games met on Thursday with specialized agencies to discuss the supply of necessary equipment and personnel for the Games.

During the Games, the center will test a total of 4,500 samples, a record number in the history of the Olympic Games. Five Beijing-based agencies have been designated to supply more than 20 testing devices and over 60 specialists to meet the demand for testing a maximum of 230 samples a day in a 24-hour working regime.

The attendants discussed the type and amount of equipment and the number of personnel each of the agencies can provide, and agreement was reached on the issues.

The representatives of the agencies promised to deliver the equipment on time and ask their personnel to attend training and practice courses run by the center.

The cooperating agencies are the Institute of Pharmaceuticals of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products, the Forensic Section of the Criminal Police Squad of the Beijing Public Security Bureau, and the Analysis Centers of Tsinghua and Peking University.
