Golden Week Should Be Abandoned Chinese used to enjoy Golden week a great deal as it was regarded a fabulous time to feel the beauty of life. Travel and shopping were common options so that tourist attractions and malls were constantly filled with crowd. But it seems that people have lost their enthusiasm for Golden week recently since a heated discussion is being held in Beijing on this dilemma. It is obvious that Golden week will come to the end of its life soon.More and more people complain about Golden week. They claim that they did not enjoy the week these years as crowds were everywhere and it seemed impossible to find a place with no noise except their home. So their only choice was to stay home and enjoyed the feeling of doing few things. The week becomes nothing to more and more people, especially the mid-class people who earn enough money that enables them to beijing travel and shop any time. In my point of view, Golden week has three main disadvantages. What comes first is the traffic burden. The number of private cars has doubled within a few years. This results in the fact that the traffic burden keeps growing each year. A large number of cars dominate nearly every street and parking lots when Golden week comes and people find it hard to enjoy themselves because of crowds and vehicles. This also leads to an increase in the rate of traffic accidents. The second disadvantage comes from the quality of service. As every hotel or restaurant can only afford limited servants, the serving quality will surely decrease when too many people rush to a place during the same period. The last one is a possible increase in crime. It is a fact that most people still lack awareness of self-protection and they do not know what to do when they run across robbers or thieves. Taken the things mentioned above into consideration, it is reasonable to abandon Golden week. It is certain that we could find a solution which helps people enjoy their vacations better.
